As you fast, you will lose excess water that has accumulated over time as a side effect of consuming a carbohydrate-centric diet without any breaks in intake (fasting periods). The most important thing you can do during this initial phase is to increase your electrolytes.
You can do this by having lemon in your water or taking extra magnesium and including sodium (salt) in your foods. You can also take an electrolyte supplement if your headaches and discomfort are intense. Allow your body to rest during this adaptation period. Instead of your normal schedule, build in time to lie down, take an Epsom salt bath, go for a gentle walk or anything that feels nourishing. If you need to “practice” the fasting on the weekend in order to make this work for you that is fine.
Another recommendation is to start slowly with fasting. Try fasting for 12 hours and when this is comfortable, extend it to 13 hours, then 14 hours and so on until you feel good at 16 hours (at least 3x per week for women and men can safely fast daily).
Since Glow15 is a lifestyle and not a quick fix, there is no rush. The science supporting the principles in Glow15 is incredibly supportive so it is in your best interest to incorporate fasting into your long-term lifestyle. Whether it takes you no time at all to adjust or it takes you several attempts to ease into it doesn’t matter. As long as you provide yourself the opportunity to do it is all that counts!
